The burn-off furnace is an eco-friendly, non-destructive industrial device for coating removal. Its core working principle is controlled thermal decomposition. It utilizes the huge difference in heat resistance between organic coatings and metal substrates to strip paint safely and efficiently, outperforming traditional open-flame burning and chemical stripping methods.
Paints, powder coatings and resins are all polymer organic materials. In a low-oxygen environment of 400–500℃, their molecular chains break down, soften, gasify and carbonize completely. In comparison, metal substrates such as steel and aluminum tolerate far higher temperatures without deformation, annealing or structural damage, retaining the original size and mechanical performance of workpieces.
The burn-off furnace adopts a professional two-chamber and two-stage treatment process. In the first stage, sealed low-oxygen thermal decomposition is carried out. With precise temperature control and no open flame, the surface coating gradually decomposes into combustible flue gas and tiny carbon residues and separates from the metal surface. In the second stage, high-temperature flue gas purification is conducted. The decomposed flue gas is delivered to the afterburner chamber and fully oxidized at 800–900℃. Finally, it is completely decomposed into carbon dioxide and water vapor, achieving standard emission with no black smoke or peculiar odor.
To conclude, the burn-off furnace realizes efficient coating removal through low-temperature thermal decomposition and high-temperature purification. It effectively solves the common disadvantages of traditional processes, such as workpiece damage, heavy pollution and low productivity, and is widely applied in hardware processing, mold maintenance, spraying refurbishment and other industrial fields.
